John Carpenter Returning To Live Stage For L.A. Residency
Acclaimed film director and composer John Carpenter is taking over The Belasco for a four-night residency in Downtown Los Angeles later this year, marking the Master of Horror’s first live performance since 2018.
“John Carpenter Live” comes to the historic 1,500-cap theater on Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1, and the director best known for the 1978 classic horror film “Halloween” will be joined by his collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, who has worked with John Carpenter on his Lost Themes albums and on the scores of the recent “Halloween” sequel trilogy. The trio have been working together for a decade and are celebrating by releasing a 10th anniversary expanded edition of Lost Themes via Sacred Bones on May 9, and it will feature new artwork by Greg Ruth, expanded liner notes and a 7-inch vinyl record containing unreleased tracks “Dominator” and “Cruisin’ With Mr. Scratch.”
“I’ve been setting my nightmares, dreams and visions to music for a very long time, and there’s a lot to choose from,” said Carpenter, who has scored more than 20 films including “Assault on Precinct 13” and “Escape from New York.” “That means every night of this event will offer something different and unexpected.”
Preregistered fans now have access to the presale, and the general onsale for the residency begins Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. PST. Tickets can be purchased at theofficialjohncarpenter.com/tour/.
Carpenter is also committed to helping those impacted by the wildfires. He partnered with PLUS1 to donate $2 from each ticket sold to the Anti-Recidivism Coalition to support incarcerated firefighters and to the Best Friends Animal Society, which is helping animals affected by the fires.
Live Nation is promoting the residency exclusive to L.A. in association with Storm King Productions, founded and led by Sandy King, Carpenter’s wife.
Carpenter is repped by United Talent Agency. He performed at the Hollywood Palladium on Oct. 31, 2017, and grossed $81,132 off 1,955 tickets sold, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports.
