Alabama Shakes Announce First Tour In 8 Years

Alabama Shakes have announced their long-awaited return with dates set for the Grammy-award winning band’s first tour in eight years. Vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, bassist Zac Cockrell and guitarist Heath Fogg are headed to North American venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, and the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California, along with a few festivals including Minnesota Yacht Club in Minneapolis and Bourbon and Beyond in Louisville, Kentucky.
The band also announced they’ve been working on new material with longtime collaborator Shawn Everett. Their most recent album is their sophomore release, 2015’s Sound & Color.
“Last year, Heath, Zac, and I started chatting about how much fun it would be to make music together and tour again as Alabama Shakes,” Howard said in a statement. “This band and these songs have been such a source of joy for all of us. It is crazy that it has been 10 years since we released Sound and Color and eight years since we played a show. But, we didn’t want this to entirely be a look back. We wanted it to be as much about the future as the past. So we have a bunch of new music that will be released soon. We just can’t wait to experience that ‘feeling’ when we start playing those first few notes of ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’ or ‘Gimme All Your Love.’”
The tour starts July 16 in Chicago at The Salt Shed-Fairgrounds. Stops include Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater, Las Vegas’ BleauLive Theater inside Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Toronto’s Budweiser Stage, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway, Austin’s Moody Center and more.
The trek features the following special guests on select dates: Bahamas, Shannon & The Clams, El Michels Affair, The Budos Band, Sam Evian, Lee Fields, Greyhounds, Y La Bamba, Caleb Elliott, and Alanna Royale.
A Citi cardmember presale starts Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by the artist presale that begins Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. local time and the general onsale on Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. local time at alabamashakes.com.
VIP packages will be available featuring premium seating, exclusive merchandise, and early venue access. Visit wearesuper.co/alabamashakes for more details.
The band has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket will go to “supporting organizations working for equity, access, and dignity for all.”
Alabama Shakes is represented by High Road Touring’s Matt Hickey and managed by Red Light Management’s Christine Stauder.
