Artist management veterans Jason Mageau and Andrew Jarrin have launched a new artist management firm, Culture Wave, a division of Red Light Management, based in Los Angeles and with an artist roster that includes Spiritbox, Free Nationals, Senses Fail, Saves The Day, After The Burial and others after parting ways with Roc Nation.
The duo has worked together at multiple artist management companies over more than a decade, most recently at Roc Nation, an experience they say they’re grateful for. Now with a full-time staff of six focused solely on their clients, Culture Wave looks to take their artists to new levels and with a laser focus.
“Andrew and I are owners of Culture Wave, but being a subsidiary of Red Light is beautiful because they’re providing infrastructure for us and we get to continue to focus on managing the artists and doing what we do best,” said Mageau, who said he and Jarrin met with multiple potential suitors before finding a perfect fit with Red Light COO Bruce Eskowitz. A big part of that is Red Light’s extensive touring support.
“The resources and connections and clout that comes along with Red Light was also important to us,” Mageau said.
Jarrin, who also noted the great experience working at Roc Nation, said he felt he and Mageau needed their own dedicated full-time operation to properly serve their clients, aligned philosophically and with trust.
“When it comes to starting a company, you’ve got to be aligned in every way,” said Jarrin. “Jason and I, we might not see eye to eye on every single thing, but the key important things in terms of shaping a vision of a company and how it’s run, we’re completely aligned on.”
Along with Mageau and Jarrin, the team includes Olu Famuyide on the digital marketing side, with 15 years of experience in agency and label roles, Tori Borengasser, who previously led digital marketing and creative campaigns for artists including A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Karen O, and FERG, Andrew Purcell, with 20 years of experience in management, booking, promotion, and publicity at Roc Nation, Rock Night Out, The Syndicate and 10th Street Management; and Rachel Hacken, who has spent 10 years working in management, booking, tour marketing and event producing with notable names like Roc Nation, Rock Night Out, YMU, WME, and Goldenvoice/AEG.
Red Light’s Eskowitz, commenting on the addition of Culture Wave, shared, “Andrew and Jason share a strong creative vision and a deep love for music. They are always pushing boundaries. We are excited to have them and their team at Culture Wave part of Red Light Management.”
Spiritbox, recently nominated for a Grammy for best metal performance and led by charismatic frontwoman Courtney LaPlante, is on the eve of kicking off a European tour Feb. 13 at the historic Alexandra Palace in London, which sold out at 10,000 capacity in two weeks according to Mageau, with high-profile support gigs in Europe for the re-formed Linkin Park as well as its largest U.S. headline tour to date this summer. Jarrin and Mageau are optimistic about 2025’s touring outlook, but say it’s important to tour intentionally and thoughtfully.
“The tours will continue to do well, but it’s our jobs as managers to find ways to cut through all the noise,” Jarrin said. “There’s a lot of competition, but we need to have ways to kind of elevate us from the rest of the pack. Jason’s done a great job with Spiritbox with that. Everything that they do is just so well thought out.”
