Ed Sheeran, BookMyShow Make History With India Tour

With 1.4 billion people, India is a market that brims with untapped potential.
Tours by Western artists are rare and those that do visit tend to stick to the two major markets of Delhi and Mumbai. But Ed Sheeran — no stranger to breaking new markets (he recently became the first international act to play Bhutan) and a relentless, go-anywhere tourer — showed there’s more to the country than its two (admittedly massive) big metros.
Sheeran concluded the India leg of his “+ – = ÷ x Tour“ Feb. 15 after seven sold-out shows in six cities, bringing in more than 120,000 fans.
The tour was presented by AEG Presents and BookMyShow Live, the live events experiential division of BookMyShow, India’s leading entertainment platform.
“Ed Sheeran’s record-breaking ‘+ – = ÷ x India Tour’ across six cities underscores the fact that the India market at-large has come of age and BookMyShow along with AEG Presents are thrilled to have been able to lead the charge on bringing to life this tour – which has been Ed’s most extensive one in the region till date,” said Ashish Hemrajani, Founder & CEO of BookMyShow in a statement.. “The success and expanse of the tour puts the spotlight on India as a country where major artists can successfully tour multiple cities, much like in other critical must-play global markets anywhere in the world.”
Sheeran had previously played on the subcontinent in 2024 with a show in Mumbai and promised to return. On this run he played Pune’s Yash Lawns, Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City, Chennai’s YMCA Ground, Bengaluru’s NICE Grounds, JN Stadium in Shillong and Delhi’s Leisure Valley Ground.
BookMyShow has previously brought other international acts to India including Maroon 5, U2 on “The Joshua Tree Tour,” and the recent double by Coldplay at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, which sold-out both nights, setting stadium marks for the band.
BookMyShow is also co-produces Lollapalooza India, which returns next month.
