Ian Munsick Is The First Wyoming Native To Headline Cheyenne Frontier Days

Ian Munsick checks the ultimate feed bucket list item as the first Wyoming native to headline the state’s massive outdoor rodeo and western celebration Cheyenne Frontier Days.
“The zenith of my musical ambition has always been to headline Cheyenne Frontier Days,” said Munsick. “No event symbolizes Wyoming or the west better than the daddy of ‘em all.”
Munsick who grew up tending cattle by day and playing music in a family band each night, embodies the creative spirit of western culture spreading the Rocky Mountain gospel with raw depiction of the American West expanding on the themes and stories that inspire him.
“For a Wyoming singer, Cheyenne Frontier Days is the top. Every cowboy who has ever picked up a guitar dreams of playing that sacred stage,” said Munsick, who was a support player at the event in 2022. “Not only is it a dream come true for me, but I think it’s a big deal for the state of Wyoming.”
“Since day one Cheyenne Frontier Days has always been our goal,” said agent Lance Roberts, of WME. “Ian has worked hard, taken the necessary steps and fostered the relationships with the partners. He deserves this moment and I look forward to celebrating this night in Cheyenne.”
Munsick’s had his first memorable career moment in Laramie at a sold-out college bar called Cowboy in 2019. He traveled with a fiddle player and his wife Caroline who was the tour manager and sold merch. Today there are 16 people on the road with a packed semi and two buses.
“I remember we were both in awe that the rowdy crowd was screaming every word at the top of their lungs,” recalled Caroline Munsick now manager and founder of Not a Public Figure Management. “Since that moment, we’ve hit the ground running on an uphill, grassroots, country & western movement with no slowing down in sight.”
Momentum shifted into high gear after Munsick’s sold-out debut at Red Rock Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, last year. Following the show, a group of fans launched a Facebook page petitioning Frontier Day’s organizers to make Munsick’s career dream a reality. The page caught the attention of Wyoming paper Cowboy State Daily, who published a story about the fan-based campaign.
“The amount of support this community has given me since day one is nothing short of humbling,” explained Munsick. “Growing up on a ranch in Northern Wyoming, the kind of country music that came on the radio never really lined up with the scenery and lifestyle that goes hand in hand with where I’m from. I promised myself that I would stay true to my ranching roots and bring the west to the rest. I feel like I can finally say that I’ve achieved that mission thanks to the amazing opportunity to headline CFD.”
Munsick is scheduled to perform on July 18. Tickets go on sale March 13 at 9:00 AM/MT.
“That’s where my music belongs because that’s where my inspiration comes from,” said Munsick. “The great honor of being the first Wyoming native to headline CFD is most definitely the highlight of my touring career and quite possibly my musical career as a whole – truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. It will be a night I will never forget.”
Grounded in the culture, Munsick released the 18-track album White Buffalo in 2023 and an expanded White Buffalo: Introduce You To God collection and companion documentary “White Buffalo: Voices of the West” in 2024. The documentary explored the modern-day relationship between cowboys, ranchers and Native American tribes and how they often rely on each other to live off the land out west. The documentary received 19 awards and 14 film festival selections. The Crow Tribe officially adopted Munsick at his Red Rocks debut for his work on the project.
Munsick, who sold 100K headline tickets in 2024, is currently headlining his spring 2025 “Horses Are Faster Tour” after opening select dates for Lainey Wilson’s “Country’s Cool Again Tour” and support for Morgan Wallen on his “One Night At A Time Tour” in 2024. On April 18, he will release his third studio album Eagle Feather on Warner Music Nashville. Produced by Munsick, Jared Conrad and Jeremy Spillman, the 20-track album includes duets with Lainey Wilson and Flatland Cavalry lead singer Cleto Cordero.
“The opportunities Ian has been able to accomplish without any radio success is a testament to how loyal his fans are,” offered Caroline Munsick. “I’m constantly hearing and seeing posts from fans that they’re at their seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth concert. Ian has had multiple sold-out headline tours, including arenas across the West and Midwest. He has sold out Red Rocks, he has sold out the Ryman in Nashville, and he’s getting ready to sell out Cheyenne Frontier Days. When it comes to touring, we keep crossing off the bucket list.”
