Laxmi Vijaysankar has been based in the New York offices of entertainment law firm Serling Rooks Hunter McKoy Worob & Averill for almost 15 years, where her role includes advising her clients on recording agreements, publishing, merchandising, touring and artist-led ventures. among other services.

Milestones in her career include helping launch John Mayer’s Sirius XM channel and a multi-year partnership with luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet; King Princess’ collaborations with Vitamin Water and W Hotel; as well as original music collaborations with the shows “Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Arcane” and “Hacks;” and Zac Brown’s deal with Biltong beef jerky products.

Other artists at the firm include Zac Brown Band, Jason Isbell, Maroon 5, Halsey, Maggie Rogers, Leon Bridges, Moby, Megan Moroney, Bailey Zimmerman, Gojira, 50 Cent and Michael Marcagi. Vijaysankar serves as outside counsel for STEM Disintermedia and Cara Lewis Group, as well as recently advising Louisiana-Pacific Corporation and agencies like G7 Entertainment and Blended Strategy Group on major brand campaigns.

Vijaysankar explains that having been raised by strong women, it’s no surprise that she’s continued to surround herself with them in both her personal and professional life. The women in her personal hall of fame include Marcie Allen, who Vijaysankar says “gave me my start in the world of brand partnerships and the opportunity to work on countless prestige brand partnership deals for MAC Consulting.”

Looking ahead, Vijaysankar says, “It gives me great joy to say that we now have a big group of female attorneys who recently joined our firm, and I’m working on several events focused on supporting them – including one for International Women’s Day.”
