Formed during the bleakest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the venue/promoter network whose purpose was part of its name has now re-branded, with SaveLive becoming Gate 52, opening a new chapter and opportunities.
In 2024, the company promoted more than 2,200 events at its network of venues, which includes operating 14 venues while maintaining a booking network of 70 venues ranking from 500-capacity to 9,000-plus, often in secondary markets.
“With international touring being unaffordable in the current climate, we continue to give artists additional options, not by taking someone else’s piece of the pie, but making the entire pie bigger — and your business managers may thank you later,” says Nadia Prescher, head of talent at Gate 52.
Prescher, who got her start as a young promoter in the mid-’90s and went on to co-found booking agency and artist management company Madison House, says much has changed since then, when one would often find herself the only woman in a room full of colleagues and peers.
“Today, I have the privilege of working with the industry’s next generation of female superstars, ensuring they receive the support I never had,” she says. “Alongside Marc Geiger and John Fogelman, I’ve seen firsthand how a commitment to talent, not gender, builds a strong company. At Gate 52, nearly half of the executive team is female, and the overall staff percentage is even higher. This isn’t about filling quotas; it’s about hiring the best people, period. John and Marc understand that and are shaping SaveLive/Gate 52 into a balanced workplace, built on expertise and talent.”
Having attended the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009 and “thrilled for the historic moment of our country electing a Black president,” she was aware then and now that there would be opposing challenges impeding progress.
“My commitment to diversity in the workplace remains rooted in intention and awareness. … My commitment is a bold willingness to spark honest conversations, risk making a faux pas and become better, instead of staying in an echo chamber about the subject,” she says.
