Sex Pistols Announce First US Tour Since 2003

One of the most iconic punk bands is making its way to the States for the first time in over two decades. The Sex Pistols, comprising Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, are hitting the road with vocalist Frank Carter and visiting clubs and theaters in major markets to perform their landmark 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols in its entirety.

The tour marks a celebration of the band’s 50^th anniversary and kicks off Sept. 16 at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas. The routing includes stops at Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, Mtelus in Montreal, Cleveland’s Agora Theatre, Mission Ballroom in Denver and San Francisco’s Warfield before wrapping up at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Oct. 16.

Thirteen shows have been confirmed so far, but the band promises that additional tour dates will be announced soon.

The band fittingly opens its tour at the Longhorn Ballroom, which is the venue the band performed in 47 years ago for their Live in the U.S.A. vinyl album, which was released today. Before visiting North America, the punk rockers are performing sets at Punkspring in Japan, and they have shows scheduled in New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, Czechia, Switzerland, Norway, Serbia and Belgium.

Sex Pistols had a successful run in the U.K. last year, playing at venues like London’s Bush Hall, O2 Academy Glasgow and O2 Forum Kentish Town. The Sept. 22 concert in Glasgow grossed $146,731 off 2,273 tickets sold, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports.
