IMG 5062

Jimmy Johnson, a veteran tour manager who worked in the live entertainment industry for nearly six decades, died in his home in Brentwood, Tennessee, on Feb. 16.

Johnson began his career in production as a lighting designer and production manager. He enjoyed his job and was good at it with his attention to detail, honesty and calm demeanor. He worked on tours for artists like the Eagles, Elvis, Prince, Josh Groban, The Everly Brothers, Faith Hill, Trace Adkins, James Taylor and his friend Lindsey Buckingham.

“He was known as just a really nice guy and pleasure to work with,” an obituary sent by his family read. “Promoters, manager and agents loved working with Jimmy Johnson. They referred to him as a comfort. When they knew he was the tour manager on their date, all would be ok. He relieved all stress when he sat across the table at settlement. He was tough and fair at the same time. He corrected their accounting mistakes with a kind nudge, even when it was to their advantage.

“We Love You, Jimmy Johnson. Our world will never be the same without you.”

Johnson devoted his life to his family, cats and garden (he loved springtime and sunflowers, roses and hydrangeas). He was a big supporter of the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis and Johnson Chapel Church in Brentwood.

He is survived by his wife Kelley, his son Jefrey and his sister Lori.

A tribute to Johnson will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, located at 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 28 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
