Medical Issue Forces Carlos Santana To Postpone San Antonio Concert

Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana postponed a show at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio after feeling ill during the soundcheck on April 22. The 77-year-old artist reportedly fell and was transported to a local hospital, where it was determined that Santana suffered from dehydration.
The venue posted a statement from Santana’s manager, Michael Vrionis, that informed ticketholders of the postponement and provided an update on the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.
“It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed,” Vrionis said in a statement. “Mr. Santana was at the venue (Majestic Theatre) preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour. Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon.”
Santana is scheduled to perform tonight at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land in Texas, and as of this morning, the show has not been postponed or canceled.
It isn’t the first time Santana has suffered from a medical issue on the day of a concert. In July 2022, the artist was performing at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan, and collapsed on stage because of heat exhaustion and dehydration, which forced him to postpone multiple shows.
Santana is booked worldwide by Rick Roskin of Creative Artists Agency and managed by Universal Tone Management. The iconic musician is a road warrior and consistently tours across the country. He co-headlined a tour with Counting Crows last year and performed in front of a sold-out crowd at Moody Center in August 2024, which grossed $897,386 off 10,065 tickets.
