Noname’s Central Park SummerStage Concert Canceled Without Explanation

Noname’s scheduled appearance at Central Park SummerStage’s Juneteenth celebration is canceled. The show was scheduled to take place on June 18 with support by Ravyn Lenae and Fana Hues, and no reason for the cancellation was provided.
According to Pitchfork, City Parks Foundation, the nonprofit that runs SummerStage, has directed media to Live Nation, saying the foundation has no direct involvement in organizing the show. Live Nation has not responded to Pollstar’s request for comment.
“City Parks Foundation SummerStage did not cancel the Juneteenth/Noname benefit concert originally scheduled for June 18,” Heather Lubov, Executive Director of City Parks Foundation, said in a statement provided to Pollstar. “This cancellation is a matter between Live Nation, the producer of the concert, and the artist. A reason for the cancellation was not provided to SummerStage.”
SummerStage has frequently popped up in the news cycle in recent weeks, the organization first affected by the Trump Administration’s cuts of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grants. Then, Kehlani’s show celebrating Pride was canceled with New York City mayor Eric Adams citing apparent “security concerns” while alluding to the singer’s pro-Palestinian stance. Kehlani took to social media to state, “For the millionth time, I am not antisemitic nor anti-Jew. I am anti-genocide, I am anti- the actions of the Israeli government, I am anti- an extermination of an entire people, I am anti- the bombing of innocent children, men, women – that’s what I’m anti.” Kehlani also posted that she only learned of the SummerStage cancellation via Instagram.
Noname has also publically called out artists for their silence on the Israel-Palestine conflict and has voiced her support for Palestine.
