AEG Presents & ELAM To Support Young Professionals Through UK Partnership

LIDO Festival, AEG Presents’ newest addition to London’s summer calendar, announced a partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM) college.
ELAM is a full-time industry academy for 16- to 19-year-olds interested in pursuing a career in music, film, television, and games.
Based in Bromley-by-Bow, ELAM is a neighbour to Victoria Park, where LIDO Festival will premiere this year, June 6-15.
As part of this multi-year partnership between AEG Presents and ELAM, AEG will provide “a nurturing scheme that offers students first-hand experience with festival teams through mentorships, internships, work experience, and masterclasses, with further opportunities to come,” according to the press announcement.
The overarching goal is to help young adults break into the music business by pairing them with industry professionals in sectors such as booking and talent, partnerships, event management, marketing and content, ticketing, and music technology.
AEG Presents will offer ELAM students exclusive opportunities, including one-week work placements, allowing trainees to shadow festival teams in a pre-event and in-event capacity, and expand on their established summer internship program to offer two additional month-long internships specifically at LIDO.
During term time, AEG will run masterclasses, delivered by their team of professionals and festival partners, offering industry insights. Selected students will also be invited to take part in formal mentorship programs with senior leaders at AEG.
Lynsey Wollaston, VP of European festivals at AEG Presents, commented, “Students need to learn first-hand how the music business works and we have the pleasure of sharing industry experiences and knowledge through our partnership with ELAM. We have worked with them for several years at All Points East, and are excited to offer even more opportunities to showcase what goes on behind the scenes at some of the biggest UK festivals.”
Zoe O’Connell, senior partnerships and philanthropy manager at ELAM, said, “Thanks to AEG for supporting ELAM through this incredible partnership. The opportunities this will provide to our trainees to gain real-world experience through work experience, internships, performances, mentoring and masterclasses have the potential to be truly life-changing for young people who might not otherwise have the chance to gain access to this industry. We’re excited to see where this partnership will lead.”
The LIDO premiere will be headlined by Massive Attack (June 6) Jamie xx (June 7), Charli xcx (June 14), and London Grammar (June 15).
The headliners bring their favorite artists, collaborators, newly tipped artists and style to each day, which includes the artwork and stage design.
