Rock For People Attracts Record Crowd To 30th Anniversary

Rock for People just wrapped what promoters described as “the most exceptional edition in the Czech festival’s thirty-year history,” setting a new attendance record with more than 50,000 visitors, enjoying over 200 shows across five-days, June 11-15.
Linkin Park got one of the biggest crowd reactions of the festival, “evidently shaping the sound of a new generation again” with an “emotionally-charged performance,” according to a promoter statement.
An unexpected moment arose when Emily Armstrong obliged a fan, who requested to have his hair shaven off midway through the band’s set.
The other days were headlined by Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Sex Pistols with their new singer Frank Carter, and Guns N’ Roses, who closed out the festival’s 30th anniversary.
Rock for People also featured performances by Scotland’s Biffy Clyro, Dublin’s Fontaines D.C., Belfast’s Kneecap, as well as several more UK acts that all went down a storm, including IDLES, While She Sleeps, Wunderhorse, Creeper, Luvcat, Sylosis, Swim School and English Teacher to name a few.
This year’s secret shows came from Canadian-American singer Grandson, Manchester band The Hara, and Czech rapper Rohony.
According to promoters, “there was also huge interest from the audience in the non-musical program.”
The festival grounds of Park 360 in Hradec Králové, Czechia, featured new art installations, themed stages and tents, and a Tesco store in one of the hangars, offering fresh produce and goods. The festival budget was increased by a third compared to last year, reaching CZK 300 million ($13,900,000).
Rock For People founder Michal Thomes commented, “I have a lot of emotions mixed up in me, but I would like to highlight the gratitude I feel right now. We have prepared the 30th edition of the festival with the huge commitment of the whole team, but also with great humility to make everything work exactly as we wanted. I enjoyed it very much. Once again, it was confirmed that we have the best audience, who have great taste in music and know how to enjoy concerts to the fullest. The festival has exceeded all my expectations and I am already looking forward to the new decade.”
