U.S. Bank Stadium Names Shannon Kelly GM, John Drum Regional VP

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority venue operator Legends/ASM Global have announced the promotion of Shannon Kelly to general manager of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, with former GM John Drum named regional vice president for Legends/ASM Global, which operates the stadium.

“These key executive appointments reflect the strength and growth within Legends/ASM Global’s leadership team at U.S. Bank Stadium,” said Michael Vekich, chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority. “We thank John Drum for his leadership and dedication over the last eight years, guiding the venue through dynamic change in the industry with excellent performance. We look forward to Shannon Kelly’s advancement in her new role as general manager following several successful years as part of the venue’s management team, and we look forward to a bright future under her leadership.”

Born in St. Paul, Kelly joined the 73,000-capacity home of the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 and for the past four years has served as the venue’s director of events. She previously worked with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment in Denver. U.S. Bank Stadium opened in 2016.

I am grateful for my community and the experiences that have shaped my development over the last two decades in the sports and entertainment industry, leading up to this advancement,” Kelly said in the announcement. “As a proud Minnesota native who loves this state, U.S. Bank Stadium, and its many talented team members, I look forward to leading the best stadium in the National Football League. Together with the MSFA, Legends/ASM Global, the Minnesota Vikings, and all stadium partners, we have an exciting road ahead building upon the great successes of this venue.”

As general manager, Kelly will oversee day-to-day operations at U.S. Bank Stadium, including the overall management, promotion, and operation while leading the local Legends/ASM Global management team.

As regional vice president for Legends/ASM Global, Drum will now oversee six NFL stadiums, those being U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Soldier Field in Chicago, State Farm Stadium near Phoenix, NRG Stadium in Houston, Caesars Superdome in New Orleans as well as Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota, and the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

“It is an exciting time to be part of Legends/ASM Global. I am looking forward to working the management teams of eight venues as a regional vice president with our organization,” stated Drum, regional vice president for Legends/ASM Global. “I would like to thank both the MSFA and the Minnesota Vikings for their trust and support since my arrival to Minnesota in 2017. Shannon has been part of the success of U.S. Bank Stadium over the last seven years and is ready to guide this venue in the years ahead as the next general manager.”

Drum joined the Legends/ASM Global executive team in 2017 and following, served as general manager for the U.S. Bank Stadium team since 2020.

Recent concerts taking place at U.S. Bank Stadium include The Weeknd on June 14, as well as the Post Malone’s “Big Ass Stadium Tour” with Jelly Roll, Kendrick Lamar/SZA and AC/DC.
