Tour promoter FKP Scorpio and Ed Sheeran have sold five million tickets together since starting their working relationship in 2011.
To commemorate this milestone, FKP Scorpio presented the international superstar, as well as his manager Stuart Camp, with an award on the day of the third sold-out show at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany, July 6.
The five million tickets were sold across 107 concerts on joint tours since 2011, the start of the collaboration between Sheeran and FKP Scorpio.
Across the three nights at Volksparkstadion, July 4-6, Ed Sheeran played to more than 170,000 fans, underscoring his status as “one of the most successful live artists in the world,” according to a press release form FKP Scorpio.
This summer alone, FKP Scorpio is promoting a total of 22 concerts on the “Mathematics” tour: following two stadium shows in Stuttgart at the end of June, and the three evenings in Hamburg, a further 17 shows in Oslo, Zurich, Antwerp, Wroclaw, Stockholm, and Copenhagen will tale place under the aegis of FKP Scorpio. The current run, which started in 2022, concludes with three sold-out stadium concerts in front of more than 180,000 fans in Düsseldorf.
The first box office report submitted to Pollstar for an Ed Sheeran date promoted by FKP Scorpio dates back to March 5, 2012, when Sheeran performed at Heimathafen Neukölln in Berlin, selling 727 tickets at a $15,667 gross; followed by a sold-out concert at the Docks in Hamburg (1,500 tickets, $28,216 gross), March 6; and a sold-out show at Munich’s 59 to 1, which doesn’t even exist any more (1,200 tickets, $22,573).
Folkert Koopmans, founder and CEO of FKP Scorpio, commented, “We are extremely proud to have worked as Ed Sheeran’s tour promoter for 14 years now and to have reached so many fans together. Five million tickets represent not only his extraordinary musical talent but also the unforgettable moments we have been able to share with millions of people.”
Ed Sheeran commented, “Thank you to everyone who makes these shows possible – and of course to all the fans who keep coming back!”
