IMAX, Mercury Studios And Filmrise Partner For Exclusive Release Of “Prince – Sign O’ The Times”

Prince’s critically acclaimed 1987 concert film Prince – Sign O’ The Times will be shown in IMAX for the first time ever for a limited run beginning on Aug. 29.

In collaboration with Paisely Park Enterprises, IMAX, Mercury Studios and FilmRise (a Radial Entertainment Company) have partnered for the exclusive U.S. release. Pathé Live will manage the distribution of the film in other territories worldwide. IMAX, Mercury Studios and Pathé Live previously collaborated on the successful global release of Queen Rock Montreal.

The iconic concert film, which was directed by Prince and features Prince, Sheila E. and his band, has undergone IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) process to deliver enhanced image and sound quality.

The film captures the artist at his creative peak – blending concert footage with cinematic storytelling. Prince – Sign O’ The Times features some of Prince’s most iconic tracks, including “If I Was Your Girlfriend,” the anthemic title track “Sign O’ The Times” and “U Got The Look,” Prince’s hit duet with Sheena Easton. The 85-minute, PG-13 film showcases Prince’s musicianship, stagecraft and style, highlighting his impact on music and popular culture decades before his death in 2016.
