Jay Som’s Back! Plots First Headlining Tour & Album Since 2019

Jay Som, the Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, is officially hitting the road for the first time in five years, revealing a North American headlining tour to kick-off her new album Belong (Oct. 10, Polyvinyl Record Co./Lucky Number). The indie artist has also shared two new tracks from he upcoming album album Float featuring Jim Adkins of Jimmy Eat World (video below), and “A Million Reasons Why.”

The upcoming run marks Jay Som’s (nèe Melina Duterte) return to touring following the release of her acclaimed 2019 album Anak Ko. In between, she kept busy earning production credits on boygenius’ Grammy-winning album the record, and Lucy Dacus’ latest Forever Is A Feeling as well as working with the Illuminati Hotties, Bombay Bicycle Club, Troye Sivan and beabadoobee with No Rome and contributing to the I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack.  

For her upcoming tour, she will play a handful of warm-up dates in July, including a slot at FDR Park in Philadelphia with Hop Along and several amphitheater shows opening for boygenius’ Lucy Dacus. Jay Som will headline theaters, including the El Rey in Los Angeles, Warsaw in New York, and Lincoln Hall in Chicago after she plays a five dates in Europe which includes Pitchfork London and Paris performances..

Jay Som is managed by Substance Management. Her booking team includes Lindsey Schiffman and Marshall Betts at TBA Agency (worldwide except Europe) and Matt Pickering-Copley at Primary Talent International (Europe). Belong will be released via Lucky Number and Polyvinyl Record Co.

According to Pollstar Boxoffice Reports, Jay Som has a total touring gross of $3,551 with 3,930 average tickets sold based on 21 show reports from before 2019. She’s also opened for more prominent acts including Soccer Mommy, Alvvays, Paramore, Japanese Breakfast, Mitski and Courtney Barnett and played major festivals including Bonnaroo, Primavera Sound and Pop Montreal.

The new album, Belong, finds Duterte collaborating with Hayley Williams (Paramore), Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World), and Lexi Vega (Mini Trees). It also marks her first full-length album to include guest vocalists. She self-wrote, produced, engineered, and mixed the project herself, continuing the independent ethos that first earned her a cult following enhanced in 2017 by her breaout Tiny Desk Concert showcasing her bedroom pop sound.
