Salt Shed Gets Moving in Chicago

Normally a sought-after performance space in Chicago, the Salt Shed will transform into a sanctuary for movement and mindfulness with Move at the Shed, a wellness festival on Sept. 21.
A departure from the venue’s usual festival format, Move at The Shed is designed as a choose-your-own-experience day where participants curate what moves them most with 15 immersive, customizable, full-body, full-soul options.
Presented by 16 on Center – the team behind Salt Shed and several Chicago venues including Thalia Hall and SPACE – Move at the Shed offers yoga, meditation, dance, somatic breathwork, drum cardio and mat-based pilates as a way to reconnect and recharge. The day blends physical rejuvenation and musical elevation, with featured artist performances from Jamila Woods and Vic Mensa, and restorative sessions led by experts like The Sunroom and Common Language.
Attendees can purchase individual tickets to sessions or a $15 Community Pass, which provides access to vendor experiences, lounges, sponsor activations and open movement offerings like group runs and strength demos by partners such as Ethos Training Systems. Attendees can also take advantage of discounted add-on sessions throughout the day.
For more than three decades, 16 On Center has been transforming historic buildings into cultural hubs throughout Chicago and beyond. With 15+ independently operated venues from Evanston to Hyde Park — and projects in New York City and other cities in the works — the collective is known for building spaces that honor community, history and creativity.
