ANGELO GOPEE, president, Live Nation France.

Pollstar reached out to Angelo Gopee, president of Live Nation France, to talk about the state of play in 2025, which is shaping up to be one of the promoter’s busiest years to date. Highlights this year include sold-out shows at Europe’s largest indoor stadium by Dua Lipa, who’s been working with Live Nation since performing at the club level, or Beyoncé, who became the top-selling female artist at Stade de France.

Gopee also talked about the festival business, the importance of supporting the headliners of tomorrow, and the opportunities the diverse French music scene offers.

Pollstar: What does your schedule look like for 2025? Are bookings good across the board, from small and medium-sized venues to arenas and stadiums?
Angelo Gopee: 2025 is shaping up to be one of our busiest years to date – 22 stadium shows across France, close to 100 arena shows in Paris alone and more than 50 Zénith dates across the country.

Last month alone, we had sold out concerts from Dua Lipa, David Guetta and DJ Snake. Beyonce broke records, becoming the top-selling female artist ever at Stade de France, with over 215,000 tickets sold for her incredible three-night run of the “Cowboy Carter Tour” here.

It’s set to continue with nine stadium shows coming up before the August break, with Kendrick & SZA, Chris Brown, Post Malone and IAM.

What are the dynamics currently shaping your festival business?
Festival audiences have different expectations. You need to spark their curiosity, encourage them to discover new talent, and offer them a unique experience, all while ensuring they can enjoy their favorite artists in the best possible conditions.

For our part, we develop festivals that represent today’s music. We adapt to musical tastes and trends on a daily basis in order to be as close as possible to our fans. Take Lola Young, for example. When we announced her participation in Lollapalooza Paris four months ago she was still relatively unknown. Fast forward to today and everyone is talking about her. She opened for Billie Eilish’s two sold-out concerts here, and it was incredible!

Festivals also offer a different experience to what you get in a stadium or concert venue. At LollaParis, for example, we work with top chefs whom we present as artists in their own right. We’re also introducing new spaces like Lolla Wellness — a festival-goer-created zone designed for relaxation and self-care — and Lolla Planète, focused on social and environmental issues as well as shining a spotlight on career development and access to jobs in the live entertainment industry.

How is the underground scene doing? Are there enough venues/events for emerging talent to perform? How does Live Nation France manage to offer a platform to bands that are still unknown?
We know that today’s emerging artists are the headliners of tomorrow’s arenas and stadiums, and we are committed to promoting and supporting them at the beginning of their careers
– they represent more than 30% of our annual concert schedule. Imagine Dragons, Lola Young, Sabrina Carpenter and Dua Lipa are just a few of the acts we’ve promoted from clubs right up to arenas and stadiums.

We also organise a handful of showcase evenings every year – Eskisse, Platform, Oberkampfs Music Festival, La 808e Nuit – and create evenings based on musical genres – hip-hop, French music, EDM, pop, afro and amapiano – to help new acts connect with the audiences most likely to appreciate their music and follow their career trajectory.

How important are national talents to your business?
National talent is extremely important in France. The 10 most listened-to artists in France are all French. This is where our teams bring real added value. We know our market, and we’ve earned — and continue to earn — the trust and credibility of both artists and fans. Local and beloved artists like DJ Snake, David Guetta, IAM, Aya Nakamura, Franglish, Kalash, Vald, Joé Dwet Filé, Thomas Ngijol, La Femme, The Blaze, Dinos, Ronisia and many more are part of our roster.

Do you see any trends that you find particularly striking and that influence your business today and for the future? What do you think is the greatest opportunity?
The diversity of genres that are gaining popularity among younger generations is striking. Today they listen to everything and don’t limit themselves to a particular genre – they love K-pop, dance to EDM, groove to rap, and end the night with reggaeton.

The French music scene is so diverse that we now have more than 30 local and international artists from different genres who can fill our stadiums.
