Living Colour Headlining Black And Loud Music Fest In Pacific Northwest

Rock legends Living Colour will be headlining this year’s edition of Black and Loud Fest in Seattle and Portland, and they will share the stage with acts like King Youngblood, Cyril Neville and Parisalexa.
The event, founded and produced by Cameron Lavi-Jones of King Youngblood with his Dreaming in Color team, takes place at The Crocodile in Seattle on Sept. 13, and the festival in Portland, Oregon, will be held at Revolution Hall.
Tickets are now available for both festival dates. Passes for the Seattle show are available via Ticketweb, and Portland tickets are on sale at Etix.
Black and Loud Fest started out as a free community event in a Seattle parking lot to become a festival at premier venues over the past four years, and it is the first time Grammy-winning rockers of Living Colour will be performing at the Pacific Northwest festival. The event is sponsored by Jack Daniel’s and the electric bike company Ariel Rider.
“I wanted to really hammer home the mission and community of Black and Loud this year by bringing Living Colour,” Lavi-Jones said in a statement. “These guys embody every single reason why my band, King Youngblood, have had a chance to cut through to the forefront of Black Alternative Rock. Let me be clear, there would be no King Youngblood if Living Colour didn’t exist and pave the way. Call Living Colour the Goats and me and King Youngblood the Kids; that’s just fine by me.”
Other acts on the bill include Omari Neville and The Fuel joining Cyril Neville, as well as Black Ends, Down North and Nikki D & the Sisters of Thunder. The Black and Loud Fest movement expanded into New Orleans earlier this year.
“I feel blessed to be part of this Black and Loud Movement and given a chance to fully change it up and get down with these young people,” Cyrl Neville said. “My roots are just as much in rock as they are in the funky soul sound of the Neville Brothers, The Meters, The Uptown Rulers, and of course the Wild Tchoupitoulas.”
MXKA, a Black and Mexican singer, is on the bill for the show at The Crocodile to sing her trademark corridos in Spanish.
