Alejandro Pabon, 38, has spent 14 years as managing director/partner of Move Concerts Puerto Rico and two years as the Head of Rimas Nation. It has been one heck of a year for both the promoter and management company, whose roster boasts two of the biggest stars in the world with Bad Bunny and Karol G.

It’s no surprise Pabon points to Bad Bunny’s “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” Puerto Rico residency as a career highlight. The run launched July 11 and continues through Sept. 14. Pabon notes: “Thirty completely sold-out shows, with over 400,000 tickets sold, including 80,000 travel packages. Setting a new benchmark for concerts in Puerto Rico and a massive impact on Puerto Rico’s economy.”

Among the many records set by Karol G on her “Mañana Será Bonito Tour” last year was a two-night stand at Estadio Nacional in San José, Costa Rica, which sold a total of 104,761 tickets and grossed $8,827,937 over two nights, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports. The March 9-10 shows, promoted by Move Concerts, soundly beat Coldplay’s two-night record of 86,000 that was set two years earlier.

“She’s a true pop star, and the way she connects with her audience is incredible and simply unforgettable,” Pabon says.
Other highlights for Pabon include working on Young Miko’s first U.S. tour, with over 85,000 sold tickets; Bad Bunny’s “Most Wanted Tour” and Eladio Carrión’s “Sol María World Tour.”

Working in the music business is in Pabon’s blood, as his father used to be a promoter.

“Being around the stage from a really young age made me realize this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” he says.

After hosting “the best parties,” Pabon’s first professional gig as a promoter was KISS at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in 2011. He counts Move Concerts CEO Phil Rodriguez as his mentor, explaining that “he taught me everything about show business. Most importantly, he showed me the value of transparency with artists.”

Looking ahead, Pabon will surely continue rising through the ranks in the industry because he listens, learns from younger generations and adapts.

“I work to be a better version of myself every day,” Pabon says. “I understand this business is always evolving, so I stay open and never too attached to just one idea.”

As for the advantages of his generation, Pabon says, “We have a better balance between work and life, ambition and authenticity, and we value that. That makes us unique, honest, and true to who we are.”
