DANCE DUO WHO SPARKED PIMENTA’S INTEREST IN ARTIST DEV.:
Chromeo

Working as a radio regional at WMG, Ashley Pimenta was in- spired by the experience of working with Chromeo on a new single, leading her to want to learn more about the music business and artist development.
“I realized I didn’t want to just touch one piece of the puzzle, I want- ed to be involved in the full scope of an artist’s career,” she says. While in college, she worked as an intern at Universal Republic Records, with her first full-time role working as a radio promotions coordinator at Roadrunner Records/WMG.
“One of my earliest mentors, John Boulos (former Head of Radio Promotions who I assisted in my first role at Roadrunner/WMG), taught me a valuable lesson: that you can – and should – bring your au- thentic self to work and if you excel at what you do, people will respect your talent and contributions. He showed me that being genuine builds trust and that professionalism isn’t about fitting a specific mold, but about delivering results while staying true to who you are.”
Now, Pimenta is the general manager and head of marketing across the Element1 roster, the management company that handles artists including Twenty One Pilots and Balu Brigada.
“The Twenty One Pilots Clancy album campaign provided many highlights – from a massive first-week album debut to ‘The Clancy World Tour’ where we sold over 1.1 million tickets globally, to creating a process for ticketing small global underplay shows to get tickets
in the hands of fans … there is so much I am proud of and will always exist as a career highlight,” she says of the band, a longtime client
of Element1, founded by Chris Woltman, the band’s manager. “We concluded ‘The Clancy World Tour’ and rolled directly into the sur- prise announcement of the Breach album and another tour for this fall – the band has never started a new cycle mid-stride – an exciting new experience!”
The band has upcoming “Breach” tour dates across the continent, in- cluding two nights at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles to wrap things up in late October. Pimenta has been with Twenty One Pilots since the early days of her career and saw the band headline The Studio at Webster Hall in 2012. This year, the band played their biggest headline show to date with 65,000 fans at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros.
“The scale of the show was impressive, but it was also about experi- encing the massive crowd – the engagement and volume! Even at that scale, the band’s ability to connect with every single person from the front row to the very back is awe-inspiring,” she says.
