Although only 31 years old, Jenny Ice has become a stadium events veteran at Citi Field, with 11 years under her belt at the home of the New York Mets, which is hosting its largest concert series in the stadium’s history.

“This was an incredible milestone for the venue and our team to be able to host seven shows this summer, during the middle of the regular season,” she says. “I’m also proud to be spearheading the upcoming Dominican Republic vs Puerto Rico Showdown game which will take place in November. This has been a massive undertaking for our team as our first full-venue, self-produced event.”

With Ice managing the behind-the-scenes operations at the 42,500-seat stadium, this year’s concerts have included Post Malone (and Jelly Roll), Stray Kids, The Lumineers, Ateez and Blackpink.

Ice recalls that the spectacle of seeing Rihanna while in college “was a pivotal moment for me. … I remember being completely captivated by the show – not just by the performance, but also by the production, logistics and how much work went into creating something so much more than just a ‘concert.”

She says she and others in her generation have a unique ability to adapt to change quickly: “I always push myself and my team to think beyond what’s already been done. … I want to create a space where people feel safe to pitch big ideas, and actually have the support to bring them to life. That kind of culture builds great teams and great events.” That confidence comes from seeing it all and working from the bottom, she says.

“I started out working on weddings, bar mitzvahs, and corporate events at Citi Field,” she adds. “A couple of years in, I volunteered to help on the concert side and just completely fell in love with it. It was a trial by fire in many ways, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way and it helped me develop and learn new skill sets which make me more well-rounded and knowledgeable about the events industry as a whole.”

Ice says she feels fortunate to have had many female mentors, “leaders in my corner over the years to help my growth and development. They have taught me how to balance big-picture vision with the financial realities of the business and how to create incredible experiences while staying sharp on the bottom line. Also, they helped me understand that protecting your time and energy isn’t selfish, it’s how you stay in the game long-term and is something we should all prioritize when we are able to.”
