“There’s no other performer like her.”

A rolling stone gathers no moss, and Detroit entertainment powerhouse 313 Presents is hard at work to make sure to continue growing and elevating the experience at its multiple Motor City venues, which range from MLB stadium Comerica Park to the lavish Fox Theatre.

Leave it to Scott Newman, vice president of strategy and growth, who was instrumental in leading and collaborating on recent projects, including launching the first-ever all-inclusive ultra premium hospitality offering dedicated to live events at Little Caesars Arena, renewing 313’s partnership with Oakland University at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre and increasing food and beverage points of sale at the Fox Theatre and premium parking offerings at the amphitheater venues. The new Encore Lounge at Little Caesars Arena includes private parking traditionally reserved for Red Wings players and celebrities, and a VIP Red Carpet Entrance, including upscale dining space.

Those touches and amenities all add to the unforgettable moments that happen on stage, such as shows by P!NK, who’s played multiple 313 Presents venues in recent years.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to see her live several times, including Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena, and she’s always incredible,” says Newman, 33. “There’s no other performer like her.” P!NK grossed $5.6 million on two shows at Little Caesars Arena in 2024 and $6.9 million on one show at Comerica Park in 2023. Upcoming events at the arena include Shinedown, hometown favorite women’s boxing champ Claressa Shields, WWE Monday Night Raw, Linkin Park, Tate McRae, Shane Gillis and many others, helping to continue the venue’s place as one of the most active in the country (No. 24 worldwide gross in 2024).

Newman’s immediate goals and responsibility in his role is to drive what’s next for 313 Presents, developing and executing growth initiatives to build revenue and enterprise value. Helping him along the way are mentors and colleagues like 313 President Howard Handler and Ilitch Sports & Entertainment president and CEO Ryan Gustafson. Newman says the big takeaway is “to be solution-oriented and calm in a crisis.” 313 is a joint venture between Ilitch Sports and Entertainment, which owns the Red Wings, and Pistons Sports and Entertainment, which owns fellow home team Detroit Pistons.

Newman says his personal ethos involves leading with “continued curiosity, transparency and a commitment to cross-functional collaboration,” and his advice includes to “lead with empathy, give others the benefit of the doubt, and listen more than we speak.”
