Ed Sheeran Closes Record-Breaking ‘Mathematics Tour’ With Three Nights In Germany

Ed Sheeran’s incredible “Mathematics Tour” has come to a close after more than 160 concerts around the world. The three final shows took place at Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, Sept. 5-7, welcoming 195,000 fans across all three shows.
Like the entire tour, the Düsseldorf shows were “an emotional, creative, and energetic encounter with fans,” showcasing an “exceptional artist at his best,” according to FKP Scorpio, promoter of most of the artist’s European shows, including the German ones.
In total, FKP Scorpio promoted 65 shows on the current tour visited by 3.5 million fans. This summer alone, FKP promoted 22 concerts across Europe, welcoming more than 1.137 million fans, grossing more than €100 million ($117 million), by its own admission “an insane number.”

Not all of Ed Sheeran’s box office reports had been submitted to Pollstar at the time of writing, but it’s safe to say that “Mathematics”, which kicked of April 23, 2022 in Dublin, Ireland, ranks among the most successful, and longest, tours ever.
According to Koopmans, “the entire tour was marked by superlatives, as well as emotional stories — both on and off stage — goosebump moments, and an artist who has the unique ability to create a small club atmosphere even in the largest stadiums.
“It was also something very special for us as organizers. We would like to thank Ed and his team for their trust and great cooperation over the past 14 years.”
The partnership between Ed Sheeran and FKP, in which Inga Esseling (director, touring, FKP Scorpio), Folkert Koopmans, Ed Sheeran, Stuart Camp (Manager), and Chris Marsh (Production Manager, Ed Sheeran), have been instrumental, has sold more than 5 million tickets in total together.
To celebrate the successful closing of the “Mathematics Tour”, FKP Scorpio presented Ed Sheeran with a pinball machine — a unique piece in an “Ed Sheeran design,” produced exclusively for the artist.
“The idea behind it was to find something special that didn’t have to be put in a display case — it had to be something you could have fun with. Then I remembered that Ed had converted an old barn at his home into a pub – a pinball machine was a must-have for that,” said Koopmans.
Ed Sheeran, meanwhile, isn’t taking any long breaks. His new album, Play, is out Sept. 12, supported by five exclusive UK and European shows scheduled for early December, for which venue sizes have been deliberately scaled down – a rare opportunity to experience the superstar, who usually fills stadiums, in a more intimate setting before his new Loop Stadium Tour kicks off in New Zealand in January 2026.
Ed Sheeran is managed by Stuart Gamp (Grumpy Old Management), and repped by Jon Ollier’s One Fiinix Live everywhere outside of North America, where Wasserman Music’s Marty Diamond and Ash Mowry are the agents.
