Pollstar has learned that Kyle LaValley is the Troubadour’s new talent buyer bringing with her 15 years of experience at independent venues. She most recently booked Chicago’s Ramova Theatre on the city’s south side and previously worked for Sleeping Village on the north side as well as Madison, WI’s Majestic Live, Nashville’s Mercy Lounge and at the Windish Talent Agency.  LaValley is also a Detroit-native and early member of both CIVL (Chicago Independent Venue League) and NIVA (National Independent Venue Association).

“The Troubadour has always been a stage where careers ignite,” LaValley stated. “My goal is to honor that history while carrying it into the future—ensuring new generations of artists and audiences feel that same spark of discovery.”

New of LaValley’s hiring comes on the same day that Jordan Anderson, her Troubadour booking predecessor, announced she was leaving the venue to become the Senior Talent Buyer for downtown L.A.’s The Bellwether.

The historic Troubadour, a 500-capacity room, opened in West Hollywood in 1957 and has had some of the greatest performers of all time grace it’s stage. This includes Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Lenny Bruce, Nina Simone, Richard Pryor, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The Eagles, Neil Diamond, Led Zeppelin with Fairport Convention, Johnny Cash, Bill Joel, Donny Hathaway, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Miles Davis, Willie Nelson, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Guns N’ Roses, Radiohead and so many others.

“Throughout my entire career honestly, The Troubadour has always been a beacon as an independent promoter to be able to look to and aspire to,” LaValley told Pollstar. “ So being able to be at the helm now is truly thrilling and huge shoes to fill, but I’m very excited.”

The Troubadour, like many independent clubs in 2020, faced economic hardship during the pandemic. It’s launching of a GoFundMe campaign helped ignite the outpouring of support for independent venues during the crisis, which would eventually lead to NIVA and its many supporters obtaining a $16.25 billion Shuttered Venues Operating Grant (SVOG) administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration

LaValley’s hire comes in the wake of news Pollstar broke earlier today that Jordan Anderson, who booked the Troubadour since the Fall of 2021, was named Senior Talent Booker of The Bellwether, owned in partnership by Another Planet Entertainment and Michael Swier’s Teragram Presents, whose other venues she would also help prgram.
