Carín León Announces Sphere Shows, First Latin Artist To Perform At Iconic Venue

Carín León has added yet another major milestone in his career. The star hailing from Hermosillo, who fuses música Mexicana with country and folk, will be the first Latin artist to perform at Sphere in Las Vegas.
He will have a three-night stand at Sphere next year, Sept. 11-13, headlining Vegas’ annual Mexican Independence Day celebrations. The shows, which are produced by AEG Presents, will celebrate his career as well as Mexican culture, and he promises to use the technological marvel that is Sphere as way to express himself visually and musically that is not possible at any other venue.
León, whose real name is Óscar Armando Díaz de León Huez, announced the residency during a special event on Thursday at Wynn Las Vegas with the Sphere as a backdrop. He admitted he was nervous about the upcoming venture, but couldn’t help but be excited about having “all the tools at my disposal to express something.”
“With music, we always try to make as much of an impression as possible,” he added. “What I want is for everyone to get into my brain. I want you to see what I think, go on a tour through Hermosillo, a tour of all of the musical contrasts I’ve had, of the smells and many climates, and through everything that reminds me of my Hermosillo — what it is to navigate a bit of who is Óscar, who is Carín.
“This is an opportunity to be able to tell people in a more sincere, in a truer way what I really want to convey with a specific song, with a certain proposal,” León added.

In being the first Latin act announced to perform at the venue, León understands that he carries a lot of responsibility with such an ambitious venture, which can not only raise the bar for him as an artist but for all of Latin music productions.
“It’s something that fills me with great pride and great responsibility as well, to not fail as an ambassador of Mexico and of regional Mexican music,” he said.
León’s manager, Jorge Juárez, told Pollstar that he and his client are very close and share the same ambition and vision. Juárez was brainstorming with León a few years ago and asked him, “What is something you’d like to do, something that would surprise you and excite you?”

“From that conversation, the idea of Sphere came up,” Juárez said. “So I said, ‘Well, let’s go to Sphere.’”
Juárez and León pitched the idea to the people of Sphere, and while there was some interest, nothing was solidified. On the second attempt, León’s team brought a much more ambitious plan that included images and concepts.
“They loved it,” said Juárez, who didn’t rule out the possibility of extending the three-night run depending on demand.
Performing in Vegas is essential for any Latin artist, especially for those who celebrate Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 16. Juárez says it’s important market, and that it gives him great pride that the majority of tickets bought for León’s shows on the Strip are purchased by locals.
“We have people from outside Vegas looking for tickets, but it’s sold out. The idea with Sphere is being able to group everyone from all over the U.S., Mexico, Latin America and Europe so they can come and experience it,” Juárez said.
Tickets for the immersive Carín León experience at Sphere will soon be available. Presales begin Sept. 23 at noon PT, followed by the general onsale, which begins Sept. 26 at noon PT. Fans can register and sign up for first access to tickets at CarinLeon.com.
A limited number of exclusive VIP Travel Packages is now available. They include a two-night hotel stay at The Venetian Resort, VIP tickets for a show and exclusive merchandise. Visit CarinLeon.100xhospitality.com for more information.
