Bad Bunny, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso Lead Latin Grammy Noms

The music world revolves around Bad Bunny, as does the Latin Recording Academy, which nominated the Puerto Rican mega star with a whopping 12 nominations for the 26th annual Latin Grammys, more than any other artist this year.
The 12-time Latin Grammy winner is up for Album of the Year with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, and he earned two nods in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories with “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” and “DTmF.”
Rising stars CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, who recently sold out shows in the States after a stellar set at Coachella, aren’t far behind with 10 nominations, including nods for the highly coveted Album of the Year award with Papota. Similar to Bad Bunny, the Argentinian duo received two nominations in the Song of the Year and Record of the Year with “El Día Del Amigo” and “#Tetas.”
Renowned producer Edgar Barrera was also recognized with 10 nominations for his work with Karol G, Shakira, Maluma, Grupo Frontera, Fuerza Regida and many other artists.
Others to be recognized by the Academy in the Album of the Year category include Rauw Alejandro (for Cosa Nuestra), Gloria Estefan (Raíces), Vicente García (Puñito De Yocahú), Joaquina (al romper la burbuja), Natalia Lafourcade (Cacionera) and Carín León for Palabra De To’s (Seca).
Lafourcade earned a total of eight nods, and Joaquina, Elena Rose, Alejandro Sanz and Antonio Caraballo each received four nominations.
Karol G is nominated in three categories for her smash hit “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”. León, who recently announced a Sphere residency, making him the first Latin artist to headline a show at the Las Vegas venue, also received three nominations along with Andrés Cepeda.
This year’s Best New Artist category boasts a diverse group of talent, including Alleh, Annasofia, Yerai Cortés, Juliane Gamboa, Camila Guevara, Isadora, Alex Luna, Paloma Morphy, Sued Nunes and Ruzzi.
Notably absent from the list of nominees in major categories are Peso Pluma for Éxodo and Fuerza Regida’s 111XPANTIA, two albums that have been mainstays on many Latin album charts. Fuerza Regida, however, did earn its first-ever Latin Grammy nomination for “Me Jalo,” a collaboration with Grupo Frontera, in the Best Regional Mexican Song category.
The Latin Recording Academy added a Visual Media field as well as two new categories (Best Music for Visual Media and Best Roots Song). Cabra, Federico Jusid, Pedro Osuna, Camila Sanabria and Gustavo Santaolalla are the inaugural nominees for the Best Music for Visual Media category.
“We’re pleased to present this year’s nominees for the 26th Annual Latin GRAMMYs,” Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy, said in a statement. “The impact of Latin music continues to grow on a global level, and all of the nominated artists encompass its diversity and richness while continuing to preserve the iconic sounds that make our music unique.”
This year’s Latin Grammy Awards will be at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 13. The three-hour telecast begins at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will be broadcast by TelevisaUnivision.
