Solo Agency UK Issues Warning: Fraudster Posing As Agent & Promoter John Giddings

Solo Agency, and its founder John Giddings, have issued a warning to the industry about a scammer that’s currently contacting promoters and event organizers, claiming to be Giddings, and asking for large sums of money to book artists on Solo’s roster – with the money to be paid upfront.
Giddings, a 2022 Pollstar Impact International Honoree, has alerted promoters that someone is using his name to try to defraud business partners, using an email address that’s easy to mistake for Giddings’ real one, emphasizing that his team would never make demands for payment of deposits through unsolicited or unexpected emails.
The full statement made by Solo Music Agency:
“Solo has been made aware of a scam targeting our business partners.
“The scam involves the circulation of fake booking offers, enticing promoters to engage in email correspondence about the live performances of various of our clients. Demands for payment of deposits then follow.
“The fake offers originate from an individual who claims to be John Giddings and who uses an email address that looks very similar to John’s. These emails are fraudulent and do not originate from Solo. We never make demands for payment of deposits through unsolicited or unexpected emails.
“We are grateful to those promoters who have brought this scam to our attention. We are working with our lawyers to take whatever steps we can to prevent the further circulation of these emails. In the meantime, if you receive any unprompted booking offers or demands for payment, please do not respond and instead contact our offices on 0207 384 6644.
“Thank you.
“Solo.”
