The Jacksonville Jaguars showed off the first major milestone of their $1.4 billion full scale renovation at EverBank Stadium on Oct. 3 with the opening of Grand Staircase One, just in time for Monday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Grand Staircase One is located in the southwest corner of the stadium and is first of four monumental staircases that will anchor the corners of the stadium, directing ticket holders to the main concourse. This new structure is a symbol of the Jaguars’ long-term vision, giving fans a first glimpse of what 2028 will feel like when renovations are scheduled to be completed.

The first reveal comes with some necessary new way-finding entry points. Gates 1 and 4 are now both considered “super” gates. This means they provide direct access to the Fan Entertainment Zone, which is located in the Flex Field. Each grand staircase will be flanked by escalators in the future as an additional option for transport between the plaza and the main concourse.

The construction of Grand Staircase One was no small undertaking. More than 850 cubic yards of concrete were used and more than 1,100 linear feet of handrail were installed. The top landing alone required 96 cement trucks to complete. Guests should also take note that the landing represents the increased width of the new concourses, which will provide safer more comfortable movement of patrons.

The opening sets the stage for even more enhancements as the Jaguars’ “Stadium of the Future” takes shape.
