40th Baloise Session Kicks Off In Switzerland With Amy Macdonald, Duran Duran, Jon Batiste & More

Across four decades, the Baloise Session in Basel, Switzerland has delivered magical music moments in an intimate jazz-club setting with a maximum audience capacity of 1,550, seated around candle-lit tables, coupled with the proximity to the stage.
The 40th edition, which kicks off today, Oct. 17, and runs through Nov. 6 at the Event Hall of the Basel Fair, continues this long-standing successful formula.
As usual, the lineup of the Baloise Session spans the full spectrum of musical talent, from newcomers to superstars to legends of the game. This year’s bill features Amy Macdonald on opening night, Queens Of The Stone Age, Dermot Kennedy, Duran Duran, Jon Batiste, and more. Full lineup below.
Most tickets are sold out, with a few tickets available for Oct. 18, when Parov Stelar and British deep house talent Berlioz take the stage. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., all concerts start at 8 p.m. local time.
Supporting Amy MacDonald on opening night is Swiss artist Zoë Më, Switzerland’s entry at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, who also plays an important part in this year’s Baloise Session off-festival program, which is all about songwriting.
Zoë Më will share her passion for language and music in school workshops with selected classes in Basel City and the neighbouring canton of Basel Country.
Outside the classroom, too, Zoë Më will perform more music at two pop-up concerts, Nov. 4, at the Liestal Youth Centre, and, later that day, in the inner courtyard of Basel’s Town Hall.
