The undisputed “King of Country Music” George Strait announced his return to the stadium stage with a newly added performance at Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium – known as “Death Valley” – in South Carolina. The in-the-round performance features guests Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores on May 2.

This is Strait’s first concert at Memorial Stadium since 1999, which he also headlined. Known for playing long and talking little, Strait shared in a release, “Going back to Death Valley for the first time in more than 25 years feels pretty special. Can’t wait to see you, Clemson!”

Tickets go on sale at 10:00 AM/ET on Oct. 31.

In 2024, Strait played a handful of one-off stadium shows including A&M’s Kyle Field playing one of the largest single ticketed concerts in U.S. history with 110,905 fans in attendance for “George Strait: The King at Kyle Field.” The attendance record bested Strait’s previous record for the largest indoor concert in North American history with an attendance of 104,793 at AT&T Stadium on June 7, 2014. The concert was the final stop of his “Cowboy Rides Away Tour.”

Strait followed his 2024 record-breaker with five shows in 2025 with stops in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Foxborough and Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium. Every time Strait takes the stage he is joined by Retired Lt. General Leroy Sisco to present a new home to a wounded hero, awarding his 127th home last month in Los Angeles via Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Homes 4 Wounded Heroes Program.

Leading into 2026, Strait will be celebrated at the 47th Annual Kennedy Center Honors this December, for his lifetime of contributions to American culture through the performing arts. Early next year, he will be inducted into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame, for his lasting impact as a singer and tunesmith for co-writing some of his biggest hits including “Here for a Good Time,” “Living for the Night” and “I Believe.”

Over his career, Strait has claimed more than 60 major entertainment industry awards including induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2024, he released his 31st studio album Cowboys And Dreamers on MCA Nashville.
