Hollywood Bowl Breaks Ground On New Artists Pavilion

Bowl 1

The Hollywood Bowl will soon have a new social space capable of hosting pre- and post-performance events for artists and patrons. The LA Phil and County of Los Angeles recently broke ground on the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion, a multipurpose building that is expected to be completed by June 2026.

“The artists who bring magic to the stage of the Hollywood Bowl and the patrons who make its programs possible will now enjoy the gracious and expansive space they deserve at the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion,” Kim Noltemy, LA Phil president and CEO, and David C. Bohnett, presidential chair, said in a statement. “I extend heartfelt thanks to Terri and Jerry Kohl and to our partners at Los Angeles County and Live Nation Hewitt Silva for their support of this transformative public-private project.”

The new building is a 7,500-square-foot, single-story structure designed by architecture collective RIOS and boasts a full kitchen. The pavilion will give the iconic venue a flexible space that can host anything from artist gatherings to VIP receptions to off-season convenings, enhancing the venue’s hospitality and event capabilities.

Donors Terri and Jerry Kohl made the pavilion possible, along with the support from Andrew Hewitt and Bill Silva of Live Nation Hewitt Silva.

“Supporting the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion is an honor for us, as it reflects our deep commitment to the Bowl’s continued growth and to the artists who make it such a vital part of Los Angeles culture,” Hewitt said. “Bill and I have been producing concerts at the Bowl from Pavarotti to Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday celebration, and we are proud to help create a space that celebrates the talent, creativity, and community that make it one of the most iconic venues in the world.”

RIOS has worked with the Bowl on other projects, including the restoration of the fountain, orchestra lounge, box office plaza and marketplace, ensuring the 103-year-old venue is up-to-date and preserved for generations to come.

Bowl 3
More than 50 guests, including donors Jerry and Terri Kohl and L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, joined the LA Phil in breaking ground for the new pavilion.

“I grew up going to the Hollywood Bowl—it’s a place of legends, a place that stays in people’s hearts for a lifetime,” Jerry Kohl said. “Terri and I are deeply honored to be part of this extraordinary project that celebrates the artists, the music, and the magic that make the Bowl so special. We hope that every artist who walks through these doors will feel cared for, inspired, and part of something larger than themselves. The Pavilion is the next step in making the Hollywood Bowl even more magical—a stage where every artist, everywhere, dreams of performing.”

The Hollywood Bowl is an L.A. institution, having hosted the biggest names in music for over a century. It is owned by the county and managed by the LA Phil, which oversees operations, maintenance and programming. Live Nation Hewitt Silva has served as a partner to the LA Phil for over four decades, booking shows to complement the diverse programming.

Nestled in the Hollywood Hills, the Bowl is one of the most celebrated venues in the country. It won the Pollstar Award for Outdoor Concert Venue of the Year (Red Rocks Award) in April, marking the 18th time it has received that honor. It also earned the Amphitheatre of the Decade at the 2021 Pollstar Awards. The beloved venue was No. 3 on the 2024 Pollstar Year End Worldwide Top 100 Amphitheatre Grosses chart with $42,223,226.

This year, the Hollywood Bowl has hosted stars like The Who, Chicago, Cyndi Lauper, Fuerza Regida, Phish, Willie Nelson and many more.
