Statement From Marshall Arts Re Fraudulent Emails

Renowned UK promoter and event producer Marshall Arts is making the industry aware of an e-mail scam, which involves fraudulent emails being sent out to promoters, detailing fictitious booking offers for artists Marshall Arts represent.
Full statement from Marshall Arts:
“Marshall Arts has been made aware of a scam targeting our promoters. Fraudulent emails are being circulated detailing fictitious booking offers for artists we represent.
“These messages appear to originate from an individual falsely claiming to be Barrie Marshall, using a deceptive email address that resembles our own. The recipients are then encouraged to engage in discussion around these false live performances, before being sent misleading requests for deposit payments.
We’re aware of other recent instances of agents being impersonated, and we’re actively taking steps to prevent the further circulation of these fraudulent emails. In the meantime, if you receive any unsolicited booking offers or payment requests from members of our team, please do not respond. Instead, contact our office directly.”
Earlier this month, Solo Agency issued a similar warning about an individual claiming to be John Giddings and using an email address that looked very similar to a Solo Agency company one. Whether both cases are related to the same fraudster posing as some of the UK’s most well-respected event professionals wasn’t clear at the time of this writing.
