OVG International Promotes Brij Gosai To Director, International Business Development & Partnerships, Pollstar

Brij Gosai, long-standing sales executive for Pollstar, has been promoted to Director, International Business Development & Partnerships.
Gosai, a London native, joined Pollstar as Sales Executive in April 2014, and was promoted to International Director of Sales & Marketing within a month. He recalls being flown out to Fresno at the time, where the Pollstar HQ used to be located, and being given the tour of the offices and introduction to the team by the late Gary Smith, one of Gosai’s mentors.
Both connected over their shared global vision for Pollstar back when most of the biz was still thinking locally.
“Since the beginning of working with Pollstar,” said Gosai, “my aim has always been to develop the brand further globally, and educate international companies on the power of Pollstar’s data, and how it can help them increase their business.”
Today, Gosai is working across all major markets outside of North America, which includes Western, Central, and Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Australia & New Zealand, South America, Mexico, and more.
When he first began his role in 2014, many companies outside of the U.S. were unfamiliar with Pollstar. Gosai has been instrumental in helping them understand and use it to their benefit – a trajectory that hasn’t changed with the acquisition of Pollstar by Oak View Group in 2017.
“It has been very satisfying for me to grow Pollstar throughout the global market over these 12 years, and play an important role in the development of it,” said Gosai, “being part of all the changes across this time, seeing what it has become now, is incredible. Compared to when I started, this era feels like Pollstar on steroids!”
He continued, “it has only been possible thanks to the amazing team I work with, who have taken it to new levels. I am grateful to have their trust, and the freedom to be able to build and develop our box office data and brand in key global territories. I get to work with amazing clients throughout, and it never gets boring, given the live entertainment world’s many different territories and their unique challenges and opportunities.”
Gosai’s expertise sees him booked on panels on music industry conferences across the world, from Reeperbahn Festival in Germany to Eurosonic in the Netherlands to the UK’s Great Escape to BIGSOUND in Australia.
It’s not an easy task to get European companies see the benefit and share their data by entering it into Pollstar’s free reporting tools – a more-than-established process in the U.S. The secrecy maintained by most European businesses around company data may be one of the biggest cultural differences between both markets. Getting Euro business on board requires a great deal of tactfulness, which is one of Gosai’s strong suits. And, as Pollstar’s regular analyses of different European markets show, more and more companies and individuals are reporting their box office data, creating more meaningful local rankings of promoters, venues, and tours with each passing year.
“Helping companies no matter how small or large get recognition, develop their brand through Pollstar, and grow their business as a result, has always been a long term game,” says Gosai, adding that the benefit was mutual, as his work “has helped me develop relationships, and even friendships throughout the global market.”
The only thing he’s more passionate about than helping companies grow their business through Pollstar, is his family. Getting the balance right between “this amazing job I have been fortunate to find myself in, and spending time with my young daughter and family, this is the challenge these days,” he says.
But he’s far from complaining, on the contrary, he says, “as the business grows year on year, it’s a magical industry to be part of. I never take this job for granted, I feel truly blessed to work in this industry, and look forward to what more there is to achieve.”
