TAG started out almost 40 years ago with one goal: to form the largest entertainment travel company in the world. At the time of this writing, its global touring department has teams in place across the UK, U.S., Australia & New Zealand, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. Together they take care of artists and their teams, whether they’re headed to a one-off intimate performance in a remote location or embarking on a global stadium tour, making sure every member of the travel party is in good hands from the initial booking to the day they return home.
Building and leading this team is Byron Carr, TAG’s president of global touring. Carr got hooked on music hearing his parents play Beatles albums growing up. He recalls, “I remember seeing the fans’ reaction from TV footage many years after it happened, and thinking, ‘This is what can happen when a band plays music!? I want in!”
Now that he’s fully in, Carr leads a team that makes sure its client base of global touring artists and crews get to where they need to be safely, comfortably and on time. And sustainably, of course, which Carr says is “a key objective for TAG. Ensuring TAG provides not only the best travel solutions or best hotel option, but also the most sustainable way to travel, is paramount. We have to provide the best and right options to our clients, and help introduce global, sustainable partners that can provide options to offset emissions. People care about doing the right thing.”
He notices the current explosion of various musical genres quickly gaining global fanbases. “In the past two years, I have launched new dedicated Latin and Asian touring teams to specialize in these two markets,” says Carr. This boom has attracted new players wanting to set foot in the touring travel market, especially in the past five years. The way Carr intends to remain best in class is by “staying true to our core business values of service, attention to detail, and having the best people in the business. That’s what sets us apart from our competition.”
