DRIVING THE MOMENTUM OF ‘VIBRANT’ TICKETING

Rob Wilmshurst is a veteran in the ticketing game, having co-founded See Tickets. When CTS Eventim acquired the company in 2024, his insight was so valuable that he became CEO of Eventim’s UK business.
The integration of See Tickets into the ticketing and live entertainment giant Eventim has been a defining success for Wilmshurst, who says, “Bringing together two strong teams, complementary expertise, and innovative technologies has allowed us to create even greater value for our clients and customers. It has also positioned us to operate at a new level of scale and competitiveness in the UK market.”
It’s a “vibrant and highly attractive market with strong momentum across a wide range of sectors,” Wilmshurst continues. “One of the most exciting opportunities lies in empowering promoters with advanced, data-driven tools – particularly AI-supported solutions – that help them make better-informed decisions, optimize pricing, and ultimately increase revenues.”
The dynamic and competitive nature of the UK ticketing landscape comes with its own challenges. The biggest one is “to remain relevant and have a fit within this landscape.”
The way his team succeeds is “by staying agile, focusing on what we do best, listening/watching, ensuring our teams and technologies are fully aligned for promoters to maximize sales and reach new audiences.”
Wilmshurt’s passion for live entertainment originates in Nottingham, where he was a regular at many small clubs, many that no longer exist. He used to work at Way Ahead Records, where he co-founded the Way Ahead Group in 1998, which sold tickets and became See Tickets in 2004. Many of his clients from those days are now Eventim UK clients.
“The pace of change in the industry never gets boring,” says Wilmshurst, who loves his colleagues (“a truly great team”) but hates touts. “They’re like lightning strikes at a festival. Protection is key to not let them ruin the show.”
