VenuesNow Building Profile: How Merkur Spiel-Arena Outranked Everyone In October

Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany has been ranked No. 1 worldwide in Pollstar’s Global Venue Ranking for October 2025 – making it the most successful stadium of the month, outranking all of its huge U.S. competitors, including NRG Stadium @ NRG Park in Houston, TX, and Chicago’s Soldier Field on positions two and three, respectively.
The result highlights an exceptional period for the venue, driven largely by Ed Sheeran’s three center-stage performances, Sept. 5-7, which moved a total 190,718 tickets at a $18,030,791 gross, according to the boxoffice report submitted by promoter FKP Scorpio.
Ed Sheeran’s three concerts set two new milestones for the arena: the highest single-show attendance ever recorded and the largest cumulative audience in the venue’s history.
Other concert highlights from this year include AC/DC on July 8, which sold 43,586 tickets, grossing $6,685,002; Linkin Park, July 1 (44,963 tickets, $6,189,659); Guns N’ Roses, June 18 (38,560, $4,788,071); and David Guetta, July 26 (32,867, $3,120,732).
Next year’s has more highlights, with Robbie Williams announcing his only Germany date in 2026 to be at Merkur-Spiel Arena on June 5, 2026.
Since 2023, Merkur Spiel-Arena has consistently ranked among Germany’s top-three venues, “a development made possible through strong teamwork, reliable partnerships and sustained investment in the location,” according to a statement from the stadium’s operator D.Live.

In recent years, the arena has regularly appeared within the Top 40 venues worldwide, only occasionally ranking lower, underscoring Düsseldorf’s rising relevance as a global destination for large-scale live entertainment. And the city in Germany’s west, close to the borders of Belgium and the Netherlands, is continuing to invest in its live entertainment infrastructure, with a 80,000-capacity Open Air Park scheduled to open next year.
According to D.Live, “the latest Pollstar results underscore how strongly the city has positioned itself within the international touring landscape – a trajectory that is expected to continue as Düsseldorf attracts increasingly high-profile productions.”
