Billy Joel Tribute Lineup Set For Michael Dorf’s 21st ‘Music Of’ Benefit

For the 21st time, New York promoter Michael Dorf will stage a “Music Of” concert to benefit music programs for underserved children in New York City.

The 2026 edition — set for March 12 at Carnegie Hall — will feature the music of Billy Joel performed by a lineup that includes Rufus Wainwright, the War And Treaty, Joy Oladokun, Bettye LaVette, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tanya Tucker, Gavin DeGraw, Matt Nathanson, Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas, O.A.R.’s Marc Roberge, Train’s Pat Monahan and Joel’s daughter Alexa Ray Joel (will she sing “The Downeaster ‘Alexa'”?)

No word on if The Piano Man himself will show up, though Patti Smith did for the 2025 edition that honored her music.

The house band for the 2026 performance will, in fact, be Joel’s backing band.
