Legends Global announced plans to invest up to £65 million ($87.5 million) into Utilita Arena Newcastle in the UK.

The “re-imagination” of Utilita Arena is “part of a long-term strategy to support the music, events and cultural experiences which make Newcastle one of the world’s great live cities.” according to the press release announcing the investment.

Utilita Arena Newcastle, which first opened its doors to fans and artists 30 years ago, is the latest arena in Legends Global’s UK portfolio to receive an upgrade. Others include OVO Arena Wembley, Sheffield Utilita Arena and AO Arena in Manchester. Legends Global was investing some £200 million ($269 million) into these buildings at the time of writing.

The planned investment into Utilita Arena Newcastle is set to enhance its facilities and protect its future by ensuring it remains at the centre of the city’s live entertainment offering.

A summary of planned improvements includes a targeted 20% increase in the venue capacity, and major upgrades to every space in the arena, from artist dressing rooms to concourse bars.

“World leading premium lounges will take advantage of a new mezzanine floor and a dedicated VIP entrance. The latest technology will be deployed throughout to enhance acoustics and improve the speed of service thus giving fans more of a reason to get to the venue earlier and leave later,” the press release continues.

Legends Global plans to commence structural improvement works in 2026 with further improvements planned to follow in 2027. The venue will remain open throughout.

Utilita Arena is looking back on one of its best years ever with over 100 booked dates in 2025, including stand out shows from Kylie, The MOBO Awards, Stereophonics, The Offspring and the Mercury Prize.

Stereophonics sold 10,553 tickets for their Dec. 6 performance, grossing $945,643 according to the boxoffice report submitted by promoters SJM Concerts, who also promoted the Nov. 29 performance by Mumford & Sons, which moved 10,329 tickets at a $993,756 gross.

The aforementioned Offspring show on Nov. 15 was promoted by AEG Presents. It sold 9,725 tickets, grossing $658,978, according to the submitted report.

Legends Global hopes the redevelopment of Utilita Arena Newcastle “will build on this success with 2026 already shaping up to be another landmark year for the venue, with WWE Live, Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour, Florence + The Machine, Peter Kay, Premier League Darts, Yungblud, The Prodigy and more already announced to perform.”
