Foreigner Announces Special 50th Anniversary Tour Kick-Off

To commemorate the first rehearsal of the band that would become known as Foreigner, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers have announced two acoustic shows in Beaver Creek, Colorado, that will officially launch its 50th anniversary tour.
Al Greenwood, who was the first band member recruited by founder and band leader Mick Jones reflected on the rehearsal that took place in New York on Feb. 25, 1976, with a statement saying, “This was the day I first heard ‘Feels Like The First Time’ and I knew we had something very special.”
The Beaver Creek shows take place Feb. 25-26 at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, featuring Foreigner band members Luis Maldonado on lead vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass, Michael Bluestein keyboards, and Bruce Watson on guitar.
This week’s announcement from the band’s PR team notes that Foreigner’s “milestone celebration will continue throughout 2027 when the band marks the 50th anniversary of the March 8th, 1977 release of its iconic self-titled debut album.” The LP boasted hits including “Feels Like The First Time,” “Cold As Ice,” and “Long, Long Way From Home.” Foreigner’s other singles over the years include “Urgent,” “Juke Box Hero,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You” and “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
The band had previously announced an orchestral tour that starts with a residency at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, March 6-14. Foreigner has also lined up a run of dates in Florida in April with original vocalist Lou Gramm as the band’s special guest, followed by a 26-date European tour in June and July. The band’s summer plans also include a co-headline tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd with amphitheater shows booked across the U.S.
Foreigner is booked in the U.S. by Wasserman Music’s Dan Weiner and the band’s European dates are booked by Georg Leitner Productions GmbH’s Georg Leitner.
“When I started Foreigner in 1976, I never could have imagined that these songs would carry us through fifty years and still resonate with audiences around the world. This anniversary is a celebration not just of the music, but of the fans who have been with us every step of the way,” Jones said in a statement.
