HYBE America has appointed veteran communications and marketing leader Johanna Fuentes to serve in the newly created role of Executive Vice President and Head of Communications and Public Relations, as the global entertainment and media company continues announcing a round of hires in the new year. She will oversee all internal and external communications across North and South America.

The announcement from HYBE America, which is a subsidiary of HYBE Corp., explains that “Fuentes will shape HYBE AMERICA’s communications strategy, strengthen internal alignment, and elevate the company’s profile across business, entertainment, cultural, and consumer-facing media throughout the Americas.” The role includes Fuentes overseeing communications and PR efforts for the company’s music, film and television across its portfolio, including Big Machine Label Group and Quality Control Music in the U.S., HYBE’s labels in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market, and ongoing partnership with Universal Music.

“Johanna is a world-class communications leader with an extraordinary track record of guiding companies through moments of growth, transformation and cultural impact,” Isaac Lee, Chairman and CEO of HYBE AMERICA, said in a statement. “Her strategic vision, deep industry relationships, and ability to connect corporate leadership, artists, and audiences make her an invaluable addition to our executive team as we continue to expand HYBE’s presence and influence across the Americas.”

Fuentes has more than 25 years of experience across film, television, streaming, music, gaming, and live entertainment, and her career highlights include holding senior roles at Warner Bros., HBO, Showtime Networks, Bravo, and CBS. After departing her most recent role as Head of Global Communications for the WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group and EVP, Worldwide Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Warner Bros., Fuentes has spent her time running a strategic consultancy advising top executives and brands at the intersection of entertainment, media, culture, politics, philanthropy, tech and communications. Her clients included Regal Cineworld, Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, Activision and Blumhouse.

“I’m thrilled to join HYBE AMERICA at a defining moment for both the company and the global music industry,” said Fuentes. “HYBE is building a next-generation entertainment model with deep roots in culture, fandom, and global ambition. I look forward to bringing my experience navigating periods of rapid change to help define a bold, cohesive narrative that supports the company’s continued expansion across the Americas.”

The Jan. 8 announcement from Hybe notes that Fuentes, who is based in Los Angeles, will work closely with HYBE AMERICA’s senior leadership team and HYBE’s Global PR team in Korea.

Last week, HYBE America announced influential music industry exec Ethiopia Habtemariam as President of Music, effective immediately. And today the company revealed that it had hired Gene Whitney as the company’s new General Counsel, a role in which he will “oversee HYBE AMERICA’s legal strategy in North and South America, guide corporate governance across all business units, and support the company’s continued growth in international markets.”
