Courtney Barnett has announced details about her new album, Creative of Habit, due out on March 27 on Mom+Pop Music, along with unveiling the routing for a North American tour set to launch in May.

Creature of Habit is described as a “decisive new chapter in Courtney Barnett’s musical evolution.” The announcement from her PR team goes on to say: “It’s a bold, emotionally resonant record that explores the central question: how to get out of your own way so you can truly feel your life. Written in the wake of a relocation from Australia to Los Angeles and the closure of her long-running label Milk! Records, Barnett was grappling with changes that put the future of both her life and career in question. Rather than internalizing those feelings, she decided to bring all this swirling confusion directly into the recording process.”

The Grammy-nominated Australian singer/songwriter also released the single “Site Unseen” featuring Waxahatchee today, accompanied by a cinematic visualizer.

“I tried 3 separate times over 2 years to track this song, and each time it either wasn’t finished or didn’t sound right and each time we had to start again,” Barnett said in a statement. “I kept hearing this really high harmony in my head, so for the fourth and final version, I asked Katie if she’d be into singing it with me. I’m a big Waxahatchee fan. I really love Katie’s songwriting and her voice, so it was an honour to have her sing on Site Unseen.”

The North American tour supporting Creature of Habit starts with a May 1 performance at Austin’s RADIO/EAST. Stops include Houston, Brooklyn, Nashville, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, Seattle, Los Angeles and more. An artist presale will begin Wednesday, January 21st at 10 a.m. local time and the general onsale starts Friday, January 23rd at 10 a.m. local time.

Barnett is managed by Look Out Kid and her North American dates are booked by TBA Agency’s Marshall Betts.
