Following their 20th anniversary celebration last year at Portland’s State Theatre, rock definers Sparks The Rescue announced their return to the road with an east coast tour this spring. The shows kick off May 7 In Burlington, Vermont, at Higher Ground with stops in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Albany and more.

The band shared in a release, “We’re so thrilled to become more active this year and start touring in the northeast. After some sparse activity over the last few years, it’s become more apparent than ever that we love spending time with each other and playing music together. That’s what it’s all about and we can’t wait to reconnect with some old friends who love the songs as much as we do.”

Formed in Portland, Maine, the origins of Sparks The Rescue date back to 1999 when Toby McAllister (guitar), Ben Briggs (bass) and Nathan Spencer (drums) formed the foundation of the band while they were still in junior high school. After years of local shows and Battle of the Bands competitions in 2005 they added Patrick O’Connell on lead guitar and Marty McMorrow on synthesizer.

The band morphed into Sparks the Rescue – inspired by the Nicolas Sparks novel The Rescue –and started shedding its skate punk aesthetic while gaining popularity and playing shows throughout New England. Alex Roy was added as main vocalist soon after and the band was eventually signed to Fearless Records.

They toured constantly from 2009-2014. Notably participating in the Vans Warped Tour 2010 and touring Europe and the UK with All American Rejects. To coincide with the tour, the band plans to release new music in 2026.
