YTL Live, the operating company of a new live entertainment complex in Bristol, which includes a 20,000-capacity arena, today announced UK insurance company Aviva as its naming rights partner.

While financials were not disclosed, the transaction is described as a “long-term multi-million-pound sponsorship agreement,” in the press release.

Aviva Arena is scheduled to open in late 2028, at which point “it will be one of the largest venues in the country and a first of its kind for the West of England,” expecting an estimated 1.4 million visitors each year.

Chart-topping British singer-songwriter Tom Grennan performed a six-song set beneath the iconic Concorde airplane, currently located in the Brabazon Hangars, that’ll eventually become the arena.

In the audience were the Executive Chair of YTL Corporation, Sir Francis Yeoh, and West of England Mayor, Helen Godwin.

Work has commenced to transform the iconic Brabazon Hangars, birthplace of all the UK’s Concorde supersonic jets, into a live entertainment destination. The entire complex, called YTL Live, will house Aviva Arena in the central and largest of the three Brabazon Hangars, as well as a conference and exhibition space, and is expected to contribute an estimated £1 billion ($1.4 billion) to the wider Bristol economy over the first decade of operation.

Brabazon New Town in north Bristol will also receive a new train station later this year, easing access to the new building, which is expected to host more than 120 major events every year.

“The project will create more than 2,000 jobs during construction, with up to a further 500 permanent roles once the arena is operational, delivering long-term economic and social benefits for the region,” the press release continues.

Once it opens, Aviva customers will receive a range of exclusive benefits, including a 48-hour ticket pre-sale window ahead of general release; priority venue access; ticket upgrades; in-venue discounts; and other experiences.

Aviva, by its own admission, has “an historic and ongoing connection to the region, employing 1,700 people in Bristol, and having operated in the city for more than 200 years.”

With YTL Construction UK as the main contractor, Aviva Arena will be purpose-built for live entertainment, with sustainability in mind at all times. It will, for instance, be a fully electric venue targeting carbon-neutral operations.

The venue will feature 20 state-of-the-art dressing rooms, extensive production facilities, flexible end-stage or centre-stage configurations, and Europe’s largest services yard, capable of accommodating up to 60 trucks simultaneously.

Insurance business Aviva also sponsors Aviva Stadium in Dublin, and Aviva Studios in Manchester.
