Beloved Japanese pop-punk band Shonen Knife is headed back to venues across North America for a summer tour featuring Men At Work and Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Since forming more than four decades ago in Osaka, Japan, Shonen Knife has released over 20 albums and earned the admiration of fans and fellow musicians, including Nirvana, Redd Kross, The Ramones, and Sonic Youth, for their blend of punk rock and pop, with songs described by their PR team as “quirky yet unbelievably sticky songs, often filled with humor and themes of everyday life that continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.”

Last year the group released an expanded edition of its latest album, 2023’s Our Best Place, on  vinyl featuring new cover art and four new songs: “Nice Day (‘60s Mix),” “The Story of Baumkuchen (Japanese Version),” “Girls Rock (2023 Japanese Version)” and “Green Tea (2025 Naoko Vocal Version).”

Shonen Knife also reissued its debut cassette, Minna Tanoshiku, which will only be available for purchase at the merch table at the band’s concerts. When the 13-track Minna Tanoshiku (translated from Japanese to mean “Everybody Happy”) was released in 1982 only 70 copies were made, with 50 released by the band themselves and an additional 20 copies pressed by Zero Records.

The North American tour starts on July 16 at Pompano Beach Amphitheater in Pompano Beach, Florida. Stops include Atlanta; Nashville; Detroit; Bangor, Maine; Harrington, Delaware; Council Bluffs, Iowa; Salina, Kansas; Los Angeles and more. The trek also includes two special “Osaka Ramones” shows at New York City’s Le Poisson Rouge and Indianapolis’ Hi-Fi featuring setlists devoted to the band’s love of punk icons Ramones.

Shonen Knife is booked in North America by Madison House’s Brad Raffenaud.

“I’m very excited to tour with rock legends. This tour will be gorgeous and I hope you enjoy the chemical reaction of these three bands!” says Naoko, founding member and lead vocalist of Shonen Knife.

“I really respect [Men At Work lead singer] Colin Hay and love the songs of Men at Work. I always sing their songs at karaoke because the melody lines are so fantastic! Toad The Wet Sprocket is also a very cool band. Their music touches my heart!”

She added, “Shonen Knife will be performing with lots of energy and cheerful rock spirits as always! Let’s have fun together!””

Tickets are on sale now. Check out the routing below.
