Multihyphenate Star Residente Signs With United Talent Agency

United Talent Agency announced that it has inked a deal with Grammy-winning star Residente for representation in all areas.

Residente, whose real name is René Pérez Joglar, is one of the most decorated Puerto Rican artists, with his influential fusion of hip-hop and reggaeton earning him a whopping 29 Latin Grammy wins and four Grammy awards. He broke into the industry in 2005 as the frontman of Calle 13, a rap trio that includes his stepbrother Visitante and half-sister iLe, and then released his solo album, Residente, in 2017.

The Puerto Rican star is a road warrior, touring the globe and playing in major markets like Madrid, Mexico City, Buenos Aires and New York. A major highlight in 2025 was performing in front of 180,000 fans at Mexico City’s Zócalo.

Pérez Joglar made his acting debut in 2024 with In The Summers, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and won the Grand Jury Prize.

The star recently announced that he will be making his screenwriting and directorial debut with Porto Rico, a Caribbean western and historical drama that will star his longtime friend Bad Bunny. Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Viggo Mortensen and Edward Norton are also part of the cast, and the film is co-written by Alexander Dinelaris, who won an Oscar for 2014’s Birdman. Renowned Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu will be executive producing the ambitious project.

UTA will also be representing Residente’s production company, 1868 Studios, which he recently launched with Sony Music Latin-Iberia and Sony Music Vision. The company aims to deliver authentic, culturally-driven storytelling with premium projects across all formats.

Residente continues to be represented by managers Nelson “Polo” Montalvo and his company La Buena Fortuna, Jose Juan Torres and Erick Douât for Film and TV.
