NEC Group UK Marks 50th Anniversary With Rebrand

The NEC Group in Birmingham, England, is celebrating 50 years since its opening of the NEC by marking a new chapter in its evolution – bringing its venues and experiences together under a single brand: the Nation’s Experience Capital.
The Nation’s Experience Capital encompasses the NEC Campus, bp pulse LIVE, the Vox Conference Venue, Utilita Arena Birmingham and ICC Birmingham.
The Arenas, bp pulse LIVE and Utilita Arena Birmingham, which both have a capacity of more than 15,000, have so far welcomed 44 million people to over 9,000 events, including legends such as Queen, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Madonna, Prince, superstars like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Harry Styles, Adele, Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar, plus major sporting events and live shows like Disney On Ice.
As the NEC turns 50, the new brand signals “a shift towards an experience-led model, bringing together arenas, exhibition halls, conference venues and long-stay content under a single, consumer-facing identity,” according to the press announcement.
The Arena is in what it described as “its best financial year yet,” hosting 203 events. The calendar for the remainder of the year includes shows by Gorillaz, Tame Impala and Lily Allen.

Jen Mitchell, Arenas Managing Director, said: “Being part of the NEC’s five decade legacy is truly incredible. Both Arenas have a remarkable history of hosting unforgettable live events from Eurovision in 1998 to countless global stars, major sporting moments, and spectacular shows.
“This is an exceptionally exciting time as we look ahead to the future of live events and how both bp pulse LIVE and Utilita Arena Birmingham will continue to evolve over the next 50 years.”
Paul Reeve, CEO of the Nation’s Experience Capital, said: “Reaching 50 years is a proud milestone, but this moment is really about what comes next. The way audiences engage with live experiences has changed and so has our business.
“The Nation’s Experience Capital brings everything we do together under one identity and gives us a platform to grow new experiences, attract major national and international events and continue playing a leading role in the cultural and economic life of the UK.”
