Sharon Osbourne fully intends to revive Ozzfest in 2027, she said at global music industry confab MIDEM.

”Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it,” she said during a Feb. 6 appearance at the even in Cannes, France. “The last one we did was 2018. It was just a month before Ozzy got sick, and that was at the Forum in L.A. And there was no plans to stop it. We were still gonna do it, but Ozzy couldn’t. And Ozzy and I would talk about it, and he’d say, ‘Do you think Ozzfest would work without me?’ And I’m, like, ‘Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you.’ And he said, ‘We should do it.'”

Her comments follow a January interview with Billboard in which she said she was in discussions with Live Nation about bringing back to metal and rock heavy festival she launched with Ozzy 30 years ago.

The impetus for Ozzfest was a refusal by Lollapalooza to give Ozzy a slot. The initial editions were a pair of two-day festivals in San Bernadino, California, and Phoenix with Ozzy headlining with support from Slayer, Danzig, Sepultura and others.

Ozzfest then became a fully touring festival in parallel with the emergence of nu-metal in the 1990s. It eventually expanded internationally before its final one-off at the Forum in 2018.
