The A Greener Festival Awards, organized and hosted by UK sustainability experts A Greener Future, celebrate and recognize festivals, events, arenas and suppliers that are breaking ground in event sustainability.

The annual award ceremony traditionally takes place on the first day of ILMC in London, which was Feb. 24 this year, directly following the Green Events & Innovations Conference, GEI18.

A Greener Future chooses the nominees each year through assessments, site visits, evidence and analysis by trained sustainability auditors over the last 12 months. This year’s list comprised over 28 events, venues and organizations from 14 countries.

Awards are handed out in ten different sustainability categories, including power, water, food, and travel. The top accolades are both the International Greener Festival Award and the International Greener Arena Award.

Dutch festival concept DGTL was the big winner of the night, taking home two trophies: the coveted International Greener Festival Award as well as the Greener Transport Award.

Last year’s big winner, Paradise City from Belgium, one again this year for its catering on site. It had already won that award in 2025.

“This award confirms that food choices matter,” said Gilles De Decker, CEO of Paradise City, “By making structural decisions and working with committed partners like &merlin, we can reduce impact without reducing quality or experience. Sustainability is not about compromise. It’s about intention.”

“This award proves that an event can go fully plant-based without shouting about it, and the audience will enjoy it,” said the festival’s food curator Petra Daniëls, adding “We don’t label plant-based food as a special alternative; we just make it normal and tasty.”
